High-speed traffic in Germany

25.02.2021
In 2021, FLEISCHMANN is focusing on the exciting topic of "Rapid transit through the ages". A theme that extends in N scale from epoch III to the current epoch VI and that can be recreated with fascinating FLEISCHMANN models. For the reproduction of epoch III, there is the classic long-distance train, in the shape of steel blue painted express train wagons with the matching train locomotives, such as the BR 01.10 steam locomotive as well as the E19 electric locomotive for electrified lines. For epoch VI, FLEISCHMANN offers the ICE-T in the very latest red-green color scheme as Germany's fastest climate protector, as it travels on the rail lines every day.

Elegant and comfortable

The "blue long-distance train network" of epoch III has long since become a legend:
As early as 1951, the German Federal Railroad created a range of fast-moving long-distance trains. The steel blue painted cars (ref. no.: 863004, 863103, 863104, 863105) also stood out due to the multi-color printing on the side members.
In the middle of coach, the raised silver DB letters were decorated.
All "blue" trains - except for two connections touching foreign countries - carried only 2nd class wagons.
Until the class reform in the summer of 1956, when the old plush seats class was dropped, the 2nd class of the three-class system corresponded so far to the 1st class, which is still in effect today. A tin plate covered the class number 1, which was not always consistently implemented, as several prototype photos can prove.
With a total of 346 units built, the unit passenger train baggage coaches of the 1936/37 model years were one of the most frequently built four-axle passenger train baggage wagons overall. The type Pw4ü-37 wagons were equipped with a streamlined pulpit and were thus a perfect match for the fast-moving long-distance trains of the German Federal Railroad.

Fast and well equipped

The name ICE-T (ref. no.: 746002, 746072, 746102, 746402) is the collective name for the high-speed trains used by Deutsche Bahn as series 411 and 415. These trains are designed for operation on upgraded lines; they usually have a higher inclination and numerous curves, which is why these multiple units are equipped with tilting technology.
Deutsche Bahn operates more than 70 trains and uses them in Germany, but also in Austria, connecting the Austrian capital Vienna with Dresden in one stroke. But even destinations in Salzburg or Tyrol are seasonally in the timetables, also these routes are ideal for the ICE-T multiple units. The trains are driven by the center cars, where the engines are mounted longitudinally, which allows the train to accelerate quickly.
