OEBB Nightjet is also rolling in at ROCO & FLEISCHMANN

  • ÖBB focuses on sustainability and expands attractive night train products.
  • New generation Nightjets also available as high-end miniature models from ROCO and FLEISCHMANN.

OEBB and Siemens Mobility presentedthe first painted car body and the exterior design forthe new generation of Nightjets. The new, ultra-modern trains will be on the rails from the end of 2022.

Modelleisenbahn GmbH with its brands ROCO and FLEISCHMANN will produce the new top model of ÖBB, the Nightjet, for model railways. The development of the faithful replicas for model tracks will begin parallel to the production of the original by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) so the Nightjet will also be available in the H0 and N tracks in the coming years.

The future of sustainable passenger transport in Europe is rolling on. The train as an environmentally friendly alternative to the aeroplane gets to the heart of the sustainability concept. Since the end of 2016, ÖBB has been one of the few large transport companies to operate a dense and attractive night train service with popular destinations such as Brussels, Hamburg, Venice and Warsaw. ÖBB has ordered a total of 13 seven-car trains from Siemens Mobility to further expand this service in Europe and offer even more comfort for sustainable travel. In a first step, they will be used on the connections from Austria and Germany to Italy.

The new-generation, seven-car Nightjets consist of two seating cars, three couchette cars and two sleeping cars. State-of-the-art design is combined here with all the comforts travellers want. This is reflected, for example, in the couchettes, which offer mini suites for single travellers. The sleeping cars include standard and deluxe compartments. Other benefits that are of interest to more than just business travellers include free W-LAN offer, as well as power sockets and a galley in every carriage.

“We are very pleased that our long-standing, successful cooperation with ÖBB has now culminated in another highlight. The ÖBB Nightjet will be a technical challenge for us, but will especially be a real pleasure in terms of design and driving for our model railway friends,” says Tassilo Gruber, managing director of Modelleisenbahn GmbH, enthusiastically.

Similar to the Railjet, which has already been successfully included in ROCO’s line for several years, the H0 and N models will be available as high-quality miniatures. In addition to the extravagant exterior design, the interior of the car is also faithful to the great original.

In the high-end versions, current-carrying couplings and interior lighting are of course part of the standard equipment.
The new ROCO and FLEISCHMANN models in 1:87 (H0) and 1:160 (N) scale will be available in selected specialist shops, as well as in the ROCO and FLEISCHMANN online shop. Currently, the development of the models is running parallel to the prototype.
