Prototipo: A partire dal 1959, il Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk (RAW) Stendal eseguì una riparazione generale (GR) su un certo numero di locomotive, in cui solo i "miglioramenti" legati alla guerra dovevano essere smantellati e componenti usurati o dimensionati troppo deboli dovevano essere sostituiti. Pertanto, nella riparazione generale, venivano sostituiti solo le caldaie e i carrelli di guida. Le locomotive hanno mantenuto il loro numero di serie originale.
