Preproduction sample: IC control cab coach
At the beginning of the 1990s, DB began developing control cab coaches for long-distance transit. The initial 75 control cab coaches were built by converting passenger coaches from the Halberstadt production site.
After delivery of the first two series, PFA Weiden began production of twelve pressurized IC control cab coaches. These coaches are designated Bpmbdzf 297.3 to distinguish them from the “conventional” type. After the conversion within the scope of the “IC mod overhaul”, the control cab coach vehicle number was retained, but its designation became Bpmmbdzf 286.3. The additional “m” in the type designation stands for modernisation. This version of all these coaches is still in IC/EC service.
The completely new design from ROCO is correctly executed in 1:87 scale ( item nos. 6210001, 6220001) and thus represents the first fully scaled vehicle of this design on the market. As usual from ROCO, the model impresses already at first sight with perfect detailing. The roof and the car body are realized from one casting, the engraving of the driver's cab, which is attached to the prototype, is delicately executed. A real eye-catcher is also the front with extra windshield wipers and UIC plugs. As in the prototype, the cab control car is factory-equipped with separate ladders and buffer skirts.
But the inner values are also convincing, both visually and technically. Separately attached chairs and tables as well as bicycle racks testify to the high level of detail. Technically convincing is a factory-installed decoder with which, in addition to various headlight functions, the interior lighting, cab lighting and a driver's desk lighting can be switched.
With the appropriate add-on sets (Item Nos. 6200019, 6200020) and the class 101 in a special design (Item Nos. 7500021, 7510021, 7520021), a prototypical IC can be reproduced.
Please note that the model shown is a pre-production sample. Not all parts are matched and not all details correspond to an actual prototype.
