Durch das enorme Steigvermögen (bis zu 25%) überwindet diese Lok selbst auf kleinstem Raum außerordentliche Höhenunterschiede. Wegen der besonders langsamen Übersetzung ist die Lok für den Rangier-Betrieb optimal geeignet.

Sie ist mit und auch ohne Zahnstangengleis zu fahren. Bei dem Betrieb auf Zahnstangen-Gleis (Art. 9119) sollte man "wie beim Vorbild"? die Lok stets talwärts am Zug einstellen.
