Class 185.2 is a dual-system electric locomotive with a crash-optimised body design developed by Bombardier Transportation. It is compatible with both alternating current systems commonly used in Europe: 15 kV/16.7 Hz and 25 kV/50 Hz. The first locomotive of this type was delivered to Deutsche Bahn in January 2005. The six units ordered by Green Cargo were assigned operating numbers 185 401–406 and delivered in standard DB red livery. To offset the transfer of three locomotives from DB to Green Cargo, units 185 401–403 became the property of DB Schenker Rail Germany.
